The financial situation for Salim has become extremely difficult & dire. His place of employment has placed him on long-term disability. Before, he was on short-term disability for a few months. This move means he will now be paid even less & instead of every couple of weeks, he’s now paid a diminished amount once a month, at the end of every month. The amount he is being paid monthly isn’t even enough to cover his rent, let alone any other expenses.
What this means is he can’t go and buy groceries every week or so, and has to wait for that monthly deposit & he also can’t pay for his medication in a timely fashion. Even if a percentage of his medication costs are covered, there’s nothing in the bank to pay for that medication up front in the first place.
If you’ve helped him before, we’re extremely grateful. We’re asking you again to support him as he hopefully gets closer to a liver transplant to save his life.
You can click on the donate button on this page to go directly to his fundraising page. If you don’t want to make a donation through this secure page & rather would send a money order, please email rahim at findsalimaliver@gmail.com - he has Salim’s banking information and home address & can help you send a money order that will deposit funds directly in Salim’s bank account.
Meanwhile, Salim’s brother rahim is currently undergoing testing to see if he would be a suitable living liver donor, but we want to make sure that if he is not, we have others willing to be tested. We’ll hopefully know in the next couple of weeks if he’s a suitable candidate.

We have promising news. Salim has officially been placed on the waiting list to receive a liver transplant. This can come from either a living liver donor or from someone who is recently deceased. What this means is that we can finally make an aggressive push to find him a living liver donor. If we find the living liver donor, he gets the surgery. His placement on the list isn’t revealed to him, but it’s based on a number of factors as to whether or not he receives a transplant, notably his MELD score.
MELD is an acronym for model for end-stage liver disease, and MELD score is the score provided to patients based on how urgently they need a liver transplant in the next three months. It’s used by hospitals to prioritize allocation of deceased donor livers for transplant. The MELD score can range from 6 (less ill) to 40 (gravely ill). Since your health condition can change frequently, your doctor will send you to the lab for updated blood work routinely, so they can assess your condition often. The results of your blood work are used to calculate your score for the waiting list. But, if we find him the living liver donor, the MELD score may not be a prominent factor - he can get the surgery.
As Salim’s brother, I have two jobs to serve for him - to keep raising money for him & to find him a living liver donor. There’s a major initiative I am about to launch across the country & I require your help to make it happen. Let’s find him that living liver donor as fast as we can and save his life, right now.

I had a good conversation with Toronto General Hospital today & they informed me that they will now keep a file ready for anyone who wants to donate a portion of their liver to Salim to help save his life. We’re still waiting for an official placing of his name on to the Waiting List. It can be frustrating to not have him on the list just yet, but the moment he’s placed upon it, he could either find himself with a matching donor quickly or one of us will end up being the donor. To smooth out the process, you’ll see that we have the application posted on our site (You can find it by clicking here ) You can contact me directly & I will help you with the application but I will also speak to Toronto General Hospital on your behalf before you submit the application just to make sure everything is in order. Email me at rahimladha99@gmail.com or findsalimaliver@gmail.com.
Request:
Salim takes periodic trips to Toronto General Hospital (& occasionally to Credit Valley & Etobicoke General Hospital) for tests. The costs can run him anywhere from $60-75 to take Uber to Toronto General Hospital as he can’t take public transportation due to his health. If you feel like you can help transport him from home to downtown & back (& perhaps the other locations he goes to for tests) please contact me at the above email addresses and we can arrange it with Salim.
